The basic package for obtaining a driving license in Denmark usually costs 14,000 to 16,000 DKK. This package includes theory classes and around eight driving lessons. Each 90-minute extra driving session costs about 850 DKK.
You will need a photograph of yourself for your driver’s license. Remember to bring your old driving license certificate of baptism or name certificate if this is your first driving license application. It will take approximately 14 days to process your driving license.
Your passed theory test has a validity of 18 months.
Danish driving licenses are classified into different categories: Mopeds – small (L.K.) and large (AM), Motorcycles – small (A1), medium (A2), and large (A), and Cars – ordinary (B).
In most built-up areas, the speed limit is 50 km/h unless otherwise indicated; outside built-up areas, the limit is 80 km/h. The speed limit on motorways varies from 110km/h to 130km/h, so it’s important to check local signs to ensure you stay within the legal limit.
You can obtain a driving license after turning 18 but start learning at 17 years and nine months.
Two years. If you pass, your pass certificate number lasts for two years. You must pass your driving test within that time. Otherwise, you’ll have to pass the theory test again.
Individuals visiting Denmark to establish residence can use their U.S. license for the first 14 days. Tourists who do not establish residency may drive in Denmark on their U.S. license for six months.
